Do
telemarketers bug you all the time? Selling insurance, double glazing, better futures
etc? Now’s your time to get evil with this wicked “counter-script” in which you can
enquire on your tormentor’s working conditions, schooling, even favourite toothpaste.
There’s even a section to rate your telemarketer on accent, wordchoice, enthusiasm,
tempo, volume and sympathy. Here’s the thinking behind it:
Telemarketers make use of a telescript – a guideline for a telephone conversation.
This script creates an imbalance in the conversation between the marketer and the
consumer. It is this imbalance, most of all, that makes telemarketing successful.
The EGBG Counterscript attempts to redress that balance.
Note that it’s also available as a PDF. I’m printing off a couple of
copies and keeping one near each phone I own 😉
