Excellent post on Problogger that talks about how Darren (the webmaster) went through a phase of working really hard on improving his inbound links, to the detriment of the quality of his blog. Makes good reading especially the lessons learnt. Incoming links are important, but like everything in life, focusing just on one thing, to the detriment of everything else, can be a very bad thing.

You’re right, Owen. That was a very informative article and has a lot of bearing on what I’m going through right now. With all the changes at PPP, I’m getting a bit obsessed with PR and incoming links, so I think it’ll be a good idea to take a step back and focus on content again!

I loved that article, too! Very timely for a lot of the folks in “our circle”.

What is your opinion on sites like BlogExplosion that will give your site more exposure. Hence, more links if you gain readers from it. :)

eep! I have only a couple of links to my blog, but it has been an obsession for me lately too. And now that I think of it, I have put many other things aside that are important to me as well. Time to re-reflect on what I’m doing methinks. Thanks for sharing this Owen.

Hi Owen! Thank your for the article. I myself am beginning to get obsessed with PR after the segmentation at PPP was implemented. Oh, testing my gravatar as well….

Hmm .. I would hazard a guess and say the Gravatars aren’t working as they should …
