Woohoo!!. I’ve been having this problem ever since I’ve had my latest laptop: The computer occasionally does not hibernate and you receive an “Insufficient System Resources Exist to Complete the API” error message in Windows XP with Service Pack 2, in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, or in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.
Apparently, the problem is caused by the fact that the Windows kernel power manager doesn’t manage to find a block of contiguous memory to hibernate. This happens occasionally on laptops with 2Gb of RAM. It can be quite annoying when you put your laptop to sleep, pop it in your haversack, then some time later find a discharged battery and a VERY HOT laptop bag (my laptop uses a 180W PSU, just to give you an idea of how much power it sucks up).
Anyway, it’s nice that they solved the problem, HOWEVER, you can’t actually download the hotfix, but have to contact Product Support Services for it. I’m not sure if there’s a fee to be paid for it, so I just Googled the hotfix and found a copy elsewhere.
Here’s a copy if anyone wants it: Download here: WindowsXP-KB909095-x86-ENU.exe
thanks so much this really helps me as I don’t have original copy XP so Microsift won’t allow
good work!!!!
Thank buddy! my problem is fixed:) great hotfix..
thanx alot man
Hi Guyz, have the same problem. Kindly help i can’t get my aspire one working. I downloaded the fix but I don’t know how to do it Please help.

Hi Everyone, I have a desktop and when I plug it on it complete boot cycle and an error window appears stating “Isass.exe – System Error. Insufficient system resourcesexist to complete the API”. Either I press OK button or cancel button “x” on the right upper cornor of the message box, the system restarts and again give the same error. Please help me solve this problem.
I have this same problem with my latest desktop upgrade: go up to find that my setting of hibernate after so many minutes has left my computer in a mode that is suspended but not hibernated like all of these other posts. I have downloaded and installed the windows fix but it does not stick. I continue to experience the same problem. And yes, this is the first system in which I have had 4gb of memory. So this seems to be related to memory size from what I have read. But the fox does not stick. I continue to get this error.

I saw this problem, “System Error. Insufficient system resourcesexist to complete the API†on my desktop – Dell Optiplus 280 with 2 GB RAM & 160 GB sata. The problem was sorted out with installation of Win XP KB 909095. Lots of thanks to you & to ‘Google’ of course.
Try increasing the VM in the safe mode after installing the fix

Please help someone
okay, just what I need.. thanks for the file
(it’s to hassle up for me to deal with the Windows Download)
for those of you that keep rebooting it is not really possible for the install of the new windows fix. you probably get an Lsass.exe system error where it’s stuck in a booting circle with “insufficient system resources exit to complete the API”. This still has to do with the memory so I would suggest reinstalling windows or using a recovery thumbdrive. you’re not going ot be able to download the fix. sorry guys. 🙁
Worked like a charm!
All i gotta do now is figure how to get the fans to turn off in standby and im there.
Many Thanks!
Thank you! It worked like a charm!
I keep getting the same error on hibernate so I downloaded and ran KB909095 but a setup error says that the Service Pack version is newer than the update I am applying, there is no need to install this update. The error remains though…!
i noticed that most of you have the “acer aspire” i think its a problem in the acer aspire itself cuz i have an acer aspire laptop and had the same problem, but i wanna know if there is another way to fix it without formatting system :S i have lots of folders and files i dont wanna lose them :S
please if u know how 2 fix send me at my email “yasmeen_257@hotmail.com”
all the helps will be appreciated, thnx all
I cured mine problem by changing the initial and maximum paging file size to the highest it will accept.
I am dealing with an Acer Aspire as well and am having this “Insufficient system resources exist to complete API” problem.
I cannot get past the “Windows is starting” screen either so there is no way I can download any fixes.

This seems to address my problem exactly, only I can’t reinstall windows as I have no disks and this small laptop has no drive anyway.
How do I get the recovery thumbdrive?
I can be reached @

if anybody solves this Thanks!!!
Thanks a Lot for Sharing this Hotfix. Good Work… Keep it up…
Please help me, this is driving me mad!!!! I have XP pro with 2gb ram and when i start my pc it gives me an error as insufficient system resources exit to complete API !!!! im unware of this issue, pls can anyone send me the complete trouble shooting steps to solve this issue.
Precila
I cured this issue by setting the Initial Paging File size to maximum, it didn’t come up again after that. Right click on My Computer, Properties, Advanced tab, Settings button under Performance (top), Advanced tab, Change button, click on the drive that has the paging file shown (normally C:), type in 2048 in the Initial size box and then the Set button. Keep clicking OK to close all the boxes and then reboot.
Derek,
but my pc does not reebot completly, and not able to go to safe mode either………..how shall go further about this?
Maria, If the pc doesn’t boot up far enough to do the above process but you can access system restore it would be worth restoring an earlier installation of Windows. If not and there are other error messages you could Google on what the message says for a specific solution. If insufficient system resources is the only error message and Windows doesn’t install safe mode it may be worth doing a Windows repair from your Windows or recovery disk as a repair operation shouldn’t affect your data.
thanks bro,,,
your hotfix work

Hi, i am the network administrator in my office. Today i got the same problem in one of my user’s pc. For those whose system keep on re-booting if they click on okay or cross try this: i ran the pc in safe mode with networking by pressing f8 key, i have already downloaded the fix to one of my pcs given above at the page. Then i installed that fix from the ‘troubled pc” by accessing the fix through network and it solved the problem. Those who are not working in a network environment should try safe mode only (without networking), it should help. Thanks
