Social Bookmarking goes green

Hot on the heels of the news that Yahoo has just acquired Buzztracker, I’ve just come across yet another social bookmarking site. However, this is one that does a good job of differentiating itself from the multitude of social bookmarking websites out there. If you could paint them all a different colour, well, this one would be green.

Greenvoice is a community based around a common goal, that of making the world a better place to live in, through sustainable economies and positive commitment to environmental issues. The website is divided into four sections, around Campaigns, Users, Groups and News. The News section is the Social Bookmarking site I’m referring to in particular. Users can post up news articles, which get voted on by other users. The voting pushes the article further up the page with popular articles making it to the top. Very similar to Digg and other sites, but with a pure Green Agenda.

It’s nice to see Greenvoice differentiate itself in this way. The focus on a particular topic means that it doesn’t get labeled as just an alternative news site, but makes sure that it is identified for it’s view on the market. Green issues and everything that surrounds them. Check it out!
