Make love not spam

I’ve just signed up to a Lycos initiative called “Make
Love Not Spam
“. It’s a nice front to a DDOS attack on spammers around the world.
The idea is that loads of people download this attractive screensaver that places
a couple of requests on spam sites every few minutes. Nothing more heavy than a normal
browser view. However, if enough people download it (there’s around 10k already running),
this ends up being a massive drain on the target sites. The question is .. is it strictly
legal/ethical for a legitimate corporation (Lycos) to spearhead this sort of effort?
