The event is being presented by Glen from YourMovieCrew and is being held in association with the Chartered Institute Of Marketing Isle Of Man Branch.

Third Thursday has come nice and early this month, on the 15th of December; so this Thursday it’s time to come and meet your Social Media friends, to have a bite and discuss the latest and greatest. Come and tell us about your online exploits, the things you have learnt and even the mistakes you made. Social Media Club is a forum for anyone interested in Social Media to come and share ideas; we can all learn from one another and thee are tons of things we can learn from one another.

The venue is the same as usual, Paparazzi Restaurant at 12:30. It’s an open invitation, so please come and bring your friends. It doesn’t matter if you’re new on Facebook, or have been using Twitter for years; everyone is welcome.

It’s always great to see economies diversify. As time passes, trends change and it’s important to keep up to date and current. The Isle of Man has had a very stron financial sector over the last couple of decades, but external pressures and a changing market could jeopardise that. Having a presence in other sectors is the way to mitigate that risk, so it’s awesome to see this happen!

Third Thursday is upon us again, and as you may know, it’s time for the Manx Social Media Club to meet up for lunch. It’s an open event which can be attended by anyone with an interest in Social Media. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned professional, or whether you’re just starting to get to grips with the medium, this is an opportunity to come and share ideas, learn new things and meet your online friends in a real-life context.

So come and join us for a spot of lunch. We meet at Paparazzi in Douglas from 12:30 till 14:00 but feel free to just drop in for a coffee if you can’t make it for the entire lunch. That’s this Thursday 20th October at 12:30. Looking forward to seeing you all!

It’s time for Social Media Club, a casual forum for Social Media enthusiasts to get together for a quick bite. Hey everyone. It’s the Third Thursday of the month again this week and as always, the Isle of Man Social Media Club is having it’s lunchtime meet up. Come and share your latest stories, learn about Social Media and find out what’s hot and what’s not. Come and meet your online friends and put names to faces. Come and tell us all about what you think about Google+. I’m sure these and other topics will all make the table this month.

I’m actually off-island for this one, so your host will be none other than @programx (who I’m sure you all know). He’s come to pretty much everyone of these lunches, so I’m sure you’re in capable hands.

He’s a particle physicist who has been on TV many a time, and you can tell why by watching his lecture. It was quite interesting to listen to a science lecture that has been toned down for all to understand. Anyway, WiManx were there to stream the event so that it could be seen by others who were unable to go to the event.

The lecture was followed by a session with the NASA astronaut team who piloted STS133, the last Discovery Space Shuttle mission. There are some amazing snippets they brought with them to show including a farewell reel to the Space Shuttle. Definitely one to watch if you have an interest in Space.

Third Thursday is upon us, and as you may already know, Third Thursday is Social Media Thursday. And this month Thursday is going to be even more fun than ever. Here are the reasons why:

  • Social Media Club lunch is on. It’s an informal lunch for people interested in Social Media. You may use it for work, for personal reasons or to promote your hobby, but if you’re interested in how to use Social Media, and are looking to network with your online friends and acquaintances, come and join us for lunch at Paprazzi at 12:30. Anyone can come, and bring your friends along
  • We have a local celebrity visiting us for lunch. Famous tweeter @zoegillings (I believe she’s also known for her snowboarding prowess) is coming to lunch! We don’t have anything formal organised, it’s just a friendly chat over lunch, but it’s a great opportunity to meet her and hear all about what she’s up to.
  • And if lunch isn’t enough for you, local podcaster and social media whiz Derek Richardson is the CMI’s speaker in the evening. They’re holding an event titled: Social Media – Captivating the Digital Domain and it’s open to anyone to attend.

Contrary to last year, we got the chance to pick a local charity to raise funds for and we’ve gone for Wish Upon a Dream, a charity that raises money for sick children to give them opportunities and experiences that they would otherwise be unable to take part in.

We’re organising a fun event with live music down at Jaks, but are also having online auctions for both those present and those unable to attend. I’ll let you know when these are open as they’re available for anyone to bid on. In the meantime we’re still looking for donations of prizes for our raffle and auction, so if you have something you’d like to contribute, drop me a line!

It’s that time of the month again! Yes, Third Thursday is upon us and it’s time for the Social Media Club to meed up in Douglas to catch up on all the month’s latest Social Media news and reviews. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with friends you have made online, put a face to a name and enjoy a bite together.

This month we need to get the ball rolling on Twestival which is only a month away now. There’s still lots to be done and we’re looking for people who would like to chip in and lend a hand. Of course we’ll also be talking social media and technology; so if you’re interested in finding out what social media is all about, if you’re already big on Twitter, Quora or Facebook and especially if you’re already on Sherrilynne’s Twitter Top 20, then come and join us.
