Thinking about summer holidays

We’re off to Malta for Christmas, but one can’t help but think about what we’re going to do this summer. The truth is that with a 4 year old and 2 babies, our options are a little limited. Flights are a bit of a drag, I’m sure we’ll learn all about that on our forthcoming trip to Malta.

But we do have another option. When we knew we had twins on the way, we did invest in a 7 seater, which means we can go on a driving holiday, and thanks to sea transport, well, all of Europe is really still an option for us. I’ve never actually crossed the English Channel on a ferry, but there are a number of ferries to france available to choose from, and with websites like www.ferry-to-france.co.uk its easy to have a look around and find the best deal. And crossing the channel is only the first part of the equation. Once you get to France, you can drive to Germany, Austria, Italy and a selection of other countries. I’ve been to a couple of European countries, but it would be quite fun to visit some others.

So, doesn’t look like I’ll be collecting many Airmiles in the near future, but my driving is going to get lots of practice.

Introducing Alexander and Aristea

You might have noticed a bit of a gap in my blogging over the last couple of weeks, though there has been some action on my personal blog, but for those not in the loop, we’ve been blessed with a gorgeous set of twins; a boy and a girl who we’ve named Alexander and Aristea. Here’s what they look like now that they’re a week and a half old (click for a larger image):

Twins and mum are all doing fine; and Arthur and I are over the moon. I’m not going to say they’re not hard work (my lack of online time will probably attest to that); but we’re enjoying each sleep-deprived minute and are looking forward to what the future has in store.

Just wanted to drop a line to everyone who sent us best wishes whether it was via blog comment, email, Twitter or Facebook. I’d love to reply to each and every of the hundreds of messages individually, but I can’t promise I’ll have the bandwidth to do it. Just keep watching the usual channels and I’ll keep you posted with any developments.

Well, not quite now! .. But following that competition everyone voted for us in, I’ve found out that we’ve actually managed to get the top number of votes and therefore won the competition to go to Tuscany. That’s great news, but I don’t know the details, so not quite sure when we’re going. With twins on the way, we’ll either go sometime soon, or maybe leave it for next year. After all, Arthur’s only three and not sure if he can handle the twins on his own .. now when he’s four ….

Seriously though, I’m really chuffed that we won the competition, and shout outs go out to all the guys down at FuelMyBlog and LastMinute.com for putting the competition together. And of course, thanks to everyone who voted for us!

Countdown to Double Trouble

Well, we’re safely in our second trimester now, so we’ve started seriously thinking about what we need for the twins. We kept all the things we used for Arthur when he was a baby, but we need to double up on things now. One cot isn’t going to be enough and we’ve already got our hands on a double buggy. There are loads of other things we need to think about though and the logistics of simple things like going shopping with a 3 year old and 2 babies, are starting to look a bit daunting.

One thing that’s we really need to start thinking about are names; even though we’re not quite sure about the gender of the babies yet. One of the scans seem to indicate that one of them was going to be a baby girl, but nothing’s been confirmed yet. Luckily, there are tons of baby sites with name ideas; including this one at BabyConnect.

Heh .. I just discovered that Akira is Japanese for “Intelligent” .. never knew that

Another party for Arthur

We had a party today to celebrate Arthur’s reaching his 1st birthday. We’ve actually already thrown him a birthday party in Malta, but this was for his UK friends.

Party was a smashing success. We had kids running around everywhere, but even the parents had a great time. Arthur seemed to really enjoy himself and seems to have improved his walking skills (maybe by watching the other children). Now he seems to want to walk everywhere.

Time to let the cat out of the bag! Yes, we’re expecting, but don’t know whether it’s one or two just yet. Camille has been putting her thoughts down in our family blog here, so feel free to have a look and find out a bit of the trials and tribulations we’ve been through over the last few weeks. The photo along-side this posting are the two embryos we had transfered. Pregnancy tests are showing positive, but we still don’t know if it’s one or two. There’s still a number of hurdles to surpass as the first trimester is pretty risky, so spare a thought and keep your fingers crossed for us !!

P.S. We’ve named the embryos Hope and Faith
