New wheels
Posted by: Owen on Friday, 8th Feb, 2008
I’ve just realised that I never mentioned that I got a new car a few months ago. Well, sort of new anyway. It’s a second hand Jaguar S-type which is just lovely. We haven’t quite got rid of our BMW yet but we will be doing that shortly. The Jaguar doesn’t handle as nicely as [...]
My 15 minutes of fame
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 7th Aug, 2007
I had been warned, but it’s still a nice surprise to see your name in the paper. You see, my friend Sherrilynne writes a column for a local newspaper entitled Tech Talk. This week she decided to talk about my blogging exploits and post up a couple of my recent blog posts. I’m flattered at [...]
Are you a generalist or a specialist?
Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 13th Jun, 2007
Ever find yourself in situations where you are expected to be a fountain of knowledge about all subjects under the sun? It’s been happening to me more and more often. The good thing is that you end up knowing a bit about everything. The other day, after buying Epson RX640, I went off hunting for somewhere to [...]
Putting the Isle of Man on the map
Posted by: Owen on Monday, 28th May, 2007
Came across a post today on Ali’s Blog entitled: .IM taking over the IM world. It’s nice hearing about something relevant to the Isle of Man from someone else’s blog. The Island is already famous for the TT racing that’s taking place at the moment, nice to see it making it in the virtual world [...]
This Weekend
Posted by: Owen on Saturday, 26th May, 2007
Don’t you just love the weekend? Time to relax with the family, time to play around with things. I’ve been messing around with Vista, playing with computer monitoring and found a way to send huge files to other people. Unfortunately I also have an exam in a couple of weeks, so have been spending more [...]
Get on with it
Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 16th May, 2007
One thing I need to sort out is some way to improve my time management. Sometims I spend to much time messing with things are aren’t quite important. Whether it’s looking through people’s blogs, reading forums or just brosing around. Especially, now that Gary Halbert is no longer with us, I need to sort out [...]
Random Acts of Reality
Posted by: Owen on Sunday, 29th Apr, 2007
I always wondered, do paramedics wear nursing uniforms? I guess they must wear something to make them stand out, but I’ve never needed that sort of assistance, so I don’t really know. I’ve been catching up on Grey’s Anatomy recently and that’s where that question came from.
Speaking about paramedics, I just love Tom Renold’s blog: [...]
Isle of Man Online Services - Here comes tax
Posted by: Owen on Friday, 13th Apr, 2007
The project I’m working for here in the Isle of Man has moved forward to a new phase and we are getting ready to roll our services for businesses to do online tax filings (see Press Release). It’s a culmination of quite a few activities across government, including providing the infrastructure to enable this and [...]
Mahjong
Posted by: Owen on Thursday, 12th Apr, 2007
I think I may have an addictive personality. Sometimes I can get stuck on a game and play it over and over again, unable to ever get enough. The only solution is to delete them off my computer or vow never to visit a particular website again.
Mahjong is one of the games that fall into [...]
Bring her some flowers
Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 21st Mar, 2007
It’s amazing how much your partner feels appreciated hen you bring her some flowers. I picked up some yesterday on my way back home from work and they made Camille’s day! Today they’re sitting in a vase on the dining table adding a splash of colour to the house.
We’re thinking of using a flowers delivery [...]
Douglas to Peel in under 4 (FOUR) hours

On a personal note, I managed to complete the Red Nose Day fundraiser this weekend. To see how it went (and see a couple of photos) check out my write up here. I’ve raised a total of £200 for Comic Relief. Not bad huh ?
Home Remedy for Croup
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 12th Dec, 2006
Unfortunately Arthur has come down with croup which is a sickness where the larynx and trachea swell up and narrow causing breathing difficulties. Apparently it’s a pretty common childhood disease hitting kids between 6 months and 5 years of age mostly.
Unfortunately there’s not much a parent can do except humidify the room as much as [...]
Here’s the new car
Posted by: Owen on Sunday, 9th Apr, 2006
Been so busy recently that haven’t even had time to blog about our new (relatively new anyway) car!
Since Camille’s car got sold on eBay, and the we received the insurance money for mine, we’ve been looking at getting a replacement car. We originally decided on a Renault Megane Sports Saloon, but then I spotted a [...]

My good friend Ola, put up some photos on one of his sites, which he took at a toga party I threw at my house recently. Great fun! Check them out here
