Gadget Mecca
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 12th Feb, 2008
Have you noticed that I’m starting to blog more and more about gadgets? I was just scrolling down the page and it hit me seeing the number of devices on the page. It’s just that there are so many gadgets out there nowadays, I couldn’t resist. I almost ended up getting myself an iPod mini [...]
Choosing a projector
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 12th Feb, 2008
A projector is quickly becoming an essential piece of office equipment. It’s a great way to run a meeting (assuming you’ve done the right amount of preparation), and can be a good way to use software during a meeting .. and no, I don’t mean Facebook.
So what do you need to think about when choosing [...]
Time for a HoneyPost
Posted by: Owen on Monday, 11th Feb, 2008
For those who are new to this blog, I sometimes put together a Honeypost which is a collection of links designed to distract the best of us from the things we’re supposed to be doing. It’s a greymatter honeypot dripping with juicy gooey honey. So here goes:
Vista SP1 Roll out: Beta testers got it last [...]
New wheels
Posted by: Owen on Friday, 8th Feb, 2008
I’ve just realised that I never mentioned that I got a new car a few months ago. Well, sort of new anyway. It’s a second hand Jaguar S-type which is just lovely. We haven’t quite got rid of our BMW yet but we will be doing that shortly. The Jaguar doesn’t handle as nicely as [...]

Posted by: Owen on Thursday, 7th Feb, 2008
Came across a great blog today that brought back loads of memories. RC Cars Tips and Tricks is a blog about remote control cars, together with a bunch of tips and tricks on what you can do with them, RC mods you can implement and all sorts of fun. I’m a great fan of gadgets [...]
Unlocking your iPhone
Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 6th Feb, 2008
I hasn’t been long since the iPhone entered the UK market, however we’ve had the advantage that it’s a follower market and we’ve been insulated from the initial cycle of the technology and been introduced to a more recent built. One interesting side to that even though the iPhone has entered the market relatively recently, [...]
A car full of gadgets
Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 16th Jan, 2008
It’s funny how I seem to collect gadgets wherever I go. I have a number of toys in my car, but I must say, my favourite has to be my GPS unit. It’s a small device the size of a tennis ball, but it keeps me from getting lost. It has maps for all of [...]
Technical Evening
Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 9th Jan, 2008
Wow, it’s been a pretty busy evening; I’ve been getting my hands dirty with a whole range of different things.
My Fonera arrived! It’s a great way to share your WiFi connection in a controlled fashion, so that you have control over what bandwidth you charge, who uses your connection and whether you want it to [...]
Time to go wireless?
Posted by: Owen on Monday, 3rd Dec, 2007
I have a couple of friends who have been looking to move their ADSL connection onto a wireless connection and have asked me advice as to what router to get. I must admit that it’s been a few years since I looked at what was available on the market, and I am presently surprised at [...]
Merry Xmas to Me
Posted by: Owen on Thursday, 29th Nov, 2007
I thought I’d treat myself this Christmas, so I’ll be buying myself a watch. Not any ordinary watch, but a 2Gb MP4 playing watch. We’re actually buying a bunch at the office, some people buying some for themselves, some as gifts, but I’m looking forward to having a new gadget I can play with.
I’ve never [...]
Please don’t call it Book 2.0
Posted by: Owen on Monday, 19th Nov, 2007
Lots of movement in the news today about Amazon’s new foray into an attempt to replace the hard-back with an electronic gizmo. The device, named The Kindle, has been announced by Jeff Bezos and is said to be the future of reading. It can be used to read books, newspapers, even blogs; so you now [...]
Memory Cards
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 14th Aug, 2007
I’m still over the moon about my new phone, and particularly pleased with the 2Gb card that I purchased for it. I can now keep photos, MP3, podcasts and all sorts of great stuff on my card. And as the phone has WiFi, I can pretty much download everything I need.
2Gb isn’t the limit at [...]
Windows Mobile 6
Posted by: Owen on Monday, 23rd Jul, 2007
I’ve finally got Windows Mobile 6 running on my XDA Orbit (HTC P3300/Artemis), which really wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I went with the Black & Blue ROM by Tom Codon which comes ready packaged with a number of utilities and toys and a great little theme.
Installing it was a bit [...]
Check out the Africam
Posted by: Owen on Thursday, 19th Jul, 2007
You probably know I’ve got a thing about webcams, note my webcam updating in the sidebar on thi page, and I was particularly drawn to a page when I saw the tagline: Africam - View Live African Wildlife. It’s a webcam that’s running 24 hours a day at the Nkorho Bush Lounge in Africa.
The [...]
Got me a new phone
Posted by: Owen on Thursday, 19th Jul, 2007
Woohooo .. the phone I bought on eBay has finally arrived. It’s a handheld device running Windows Mobile 5 and sporting WiFi, EDGE, GPS, GPRS, the whole shebang! I’ve only played with it for a few hours so far, but it’s totally awsome. It’s great to be able to surf thanks to the WiFi and [...]
