Giving up on FF3b5
Posted by: Owen on Friday, 9th May, 2008
What a shame! I’ve tried switching back to using FireFox 3 Beta 5, but I just can’t get it to keep running on my Vista laptop. It runs for a bit, crashes, then Windows reports a Data Execution Prevention issue with it. This morning I just get getting DEP errors every time I ran [...]
Now on Firefox v3
Posted by: Owen on Sunday, 17th Feb, 2008
So, I’ve done the deed and installed Firefox v3 beta 3. It seems pretty stable, haven’t had any issues in the 5 minutes I’ve been running it, and I’m loving all the new functionality. I love the location bar (see left) and particularly like the Page Info dialog box; that shows you a whole bunch [...]
FireFox v3
Posted by: Owen on Sunday, 17th Feb, 2008
Just in case you haven’t noticed, Firefox Version 3 has hit its Beta 3 release, which is a pretty important milestone for them. It’s the version that gets released to testers around the world. It’s not intended for public consumption, but rather for developers and testers to play with. Now, I’m not too faint-hearted when [...]

The news in the press today is that Facebook has just acquired Parakey. For those who haven’t heard of Parakey before, they’re an outfit working on closing the gap between the Internet and your desktop. Download here: Technorati Status Bar
This one is better because:
1. It works (API key of 0.1 expired somehow)
2. It works on every page of the website, not just the home page
3. It [...]
Problem with Technorati Plugin for FireFox
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 3rd Apr, 2007
Well, my Firefox Plugin for Technorati was working nicely, but all of a sudden it seems to have died. After a bit of research I found out that API calls are limited to 500 a day, and I thought I might have overrun this. However, when I tried checking the status of my API key, [...]
Firefox plugin to check Technorati Rank
Posted by: Owen on Monday, 2nd Apr, 2007
I’ve just finished writing my first FireFox plugin. It sits in your Status Bar and reports on the Technorati Ranking of the website or blog you’re looking at at that particular moment in time. It’s out for testing at the moment with a couple of mate, but I’ll post it up here soon if I [...]
FireFox and WMV files
Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 21st Mar, 2007
I’ve been having problems with Firefox v2.0 and WMV files. Everything it comes across one it keeps throwing a fit and complaining about “Missing Plugins”. When you try to get the plugin it needs it tries to download Windows Media Player, but I KNEW I had the latest version. Turns out it’s a known issue [...]
Even faster Firefox …

Found this on Darrell Norton’s blog …
Speeding up Firefox seems to be a meme going around the blogsphere lately. Most of the tips I’ve seen, though, are only for broadband connections with the latest hardware and only include some of the settings that would affect performance.
The Firefox Tweak Guide has the full details on how [...]
