Hi James,

Looking at your page it seems like the widget has lost it’s settings. Can you try setting up the map again in your admin panel and saving the settings. Let me know how you get on

Hi Owen.
My Geowidget has stopped working and the only reason I can think of is that I added a weather widget - Geo was fine before. You kindly looked at the Geo before when I had trouble setting it up, any thoughts on why it should stop working now?
Yours non-technically, James

@Wolfie: Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. The “Related Posts” section is generated by Ultimate Tag Warrior. As you might know, newer versions of WordPress do tagging, so their might be native ways to do this on more recent versions

The “WindowsXP-KB909095-x86-ENU.exe” you posted on the blog to cure “Insufficient System Resources Exist to Complete the API” is really, really helpful.

Thanks mate!

Hey Owen,

Just a quick question; which WP plug-in do you use for the “Related Postss” links at the bottom of entries? Or do you add them manually each time?

Cheers

Too many forums, too little time. That’s the biggest problem.

Anyway, I was off to London watching Spamalot, so I missed the thread .. sorry for that!

Hi Owen and everyone!

I am not sure if I am being rude for asking a self-imposed question out of nowhere.

Since I am new here - I like to start off with:
I like to humbly ask some techniques for blogging especially since i just started my own company specializing in coaching presentation skills. However, I haven’t blogged before and I know blogging could be a tedious tasks sometimes.

I am also building my own website (currently learning all the web tech), and would like to link my blog to my website. To avoid any misunderstanding, my blog is not that much for commercial values, but to help my customers/audience to learn skills or knowledge and both the company website and personal blog page should be closely interrelated, I think.

BTW, I am based in Thailand. Nice country, pleasant people ;)

Question is:
1. What are the common pitfalls if I link my company website and personal blog together? Is this ‘professional’ to involve my personal blog?
2. I heard of some blogging software around, but haven’t tried them out yet. e.g., blogger, wordpress, typepad etc. In terms of ease of use, update functionality, aesthetics, and minimal costs , can someone please advise on this?

Any pointers to share would be greatly appreciated.

Heartfelt thanks!
Ash

Hi, Owen.

I was wondering if I could please get version 0.4 and/or 0.3 of your Random Link Button plugin. I’d like to use it on a WP 2.0.11 site, but the 0.5 version requires 2.1.

Thank you!

Hi Garry,

The email/comments etc is actually just a feature of WordPress. There are a number of plugins that provide just that functionality. Here’s one such plugin: http://chip.cuccio.us/projects/contact-form-ii/

Hope this helps

Hi Owen,

Hate to post a pitch here BUT we think you will love what we have done for video search.

We follow your blog and know you LOVE all things digital video. That’s why we thought you might be interested in our new video search engine developments that will soon be available to the general public. Here is your sneak peek.

It is no secret that online video has rapidly exploded over the last year. With literally millions of hours of video currently online and thousands of hours being added daily, the consumer can be easily overwhelmed. What is worth watching? How does one begin to sift through such a vast landscape? With the myVeZoom personal video engine, this problem is solved by the creation of channeled video feeds scoured from both UGC and professionally produced content.

We invite you to visit myVeZoom (http://www.vezoom.com/myVeZoom.htm), and test drive the new myVeZoom engine before we announce it to the general public next week. In test trials the response has been extremely positive. The myVeZoom personal video engine saves users the daily hassle of trying to find what online video interests them. Your myVeZoom page becomes a custom tailored video channels experience that updates dynamically. You can even create your own channel on the fly by entering a keyword. Instantly your channel is generated right before your eyes. MyVeZoom is YOUR video WHEN and WHERE you want it. Once set-up, myVeZoom becomes one-stop access to see your video favorites without searching.

Currently myVeZoom offers over 60 online video channels. The usual suspects are here; YouTube, CNN, ESPN, Yahoo! and Google as well as some more obscure video sites such as Stupid Video, Video Spotter, and AniBoom. Users select the channels from a list of available category options, and then personalize the layout of the page by dragging and dropping their favorites into position. MyVeZoom continuously monitors over 18 million hours of online video for videos of relevance, providing new content for the user based on their favorite selected channels.

Please let me know if you’d like any further details on myVeZoom after trying it, and if you’d like to set up an interview with myself or our CEO and Founder TJ Modi, please contact me via phone or email.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Hi Bonnie,

Thanks for popping by. Might be easier to walk you through it online. Do you use MSN or Skype or something similar ?

hi owen, i found you on the ppp boards and thought maybe you might take pity on an old woman (60) and give me a hand. my current blog is muffin53.blogspot.com and i decided after reading the boards to get my own domain. so now i have two blogs. the new one is hosted at godaddy with the server there as well. i got the template on there and the blog up and running but for the very life of me i simply cannot add any widgets, change the header, etc, and it is supposed to be so easy. any ideas? i don’t yet understand how to get it up to the server and down to the blog.
thanks in advance.

Hi Owen,
I hope that Manx life is treating you well.

I have a quick question about the blog - how have you implemented the random landscapes in your page header?

Cheers, Mark

Hi Owen,

I wanted to say thanks for the PPP Disclosure Badge plugin for wp. But I also thought I’d give you a heads up about something that would make a great step 2 or 3 in your installation instructions.

Your plugin won’t work without a call to wp_footer() somewhere in the footer.php file. I don’t know if it’s common practice to have that call in the footer, I’ve personally never seen it before, but I also develop a lot of my themes from scratch.

Thanks Again,
Courtney

Hi Julie,

You can find detailed instructions on how to upgrade here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress#Detailed_Instructions

The most important points are to backup everything before you try to do the upgrade. This way you can always roll it back to a working state.

Let me know if you still have any difficulties.

Hey Owen, I have a question about WP.

I’m currently running 2.0.5 because I don’t like to mess around with upgrades too much (I’m likely to screw things up lol).

But I’ve got WP 2.2 on a new blog and love it — especially the autosave feature, which is something I really need.

So my question is: can I go from 2.0.5 to 2.2, or do I have to install one of the intermediate upgrades first?

Thanks much!

Julie
