Watching Torchwood
Posted by: Owen on Monday, 1st Jan, 2007
Just watched a couple of episodes of Torchwood,
the BBC series that was spun off from Doctor
Who. Quite impressed, I found the storyline entertaining and the action fast paced.
I’ll be watching more in the near future. I’m actually watching them online. You can
see them for free here.

Living with an iBook

So, my Rock power supply blew up a few weeks
ago and they have been unable to supply me with a replacement yet. They’re still out
of stock and I’m going to have to wait till next year to get another one. That’s a
full 4/5 weeks without a laptop (and that’s if they’re not lying again about [...]
Five things about me
Posted by: Owen on Monday, 18th Dec, 2006
Woke up this morning to find that Sherrilynne
had tagged me with one of the recent memes floating
around the web. And now I have to come up with a list of 5 things you probably don’t
know about me. Hmm .. let’s get started:
My parents wanted to avoid calling me John as this was a pretty [...]

Time to return home
Posted by: Owen on Saturday, 4th Nov, 2006
Well, here we are on our last night in Pisa. We return home tomorrow and as always,
it feels good to be heading back home, but it’s also with a heavy heart as our holiday
is now over. I’ve got lots of bits and pieces to post over the next few days, some
photos (took lots of those), [...]
Travel time
Posted by: Owen on Thursday, 26th Oct, 2006
I’m off traveling today and the question is, what am I going to be reading. I should
really be reading my marketing text for my MBA,
but it’s big heavy book and I certainly won’t be carrying it around. Maybe I’ll get
round to reading Simone and Elves which claims to be “The Best
Self Help Book around”. Or [...]
Mortgage woes
Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 25th Oct, 2006
*grumble* Some time ago I decided to change my mortgage from one mortgage provider
to another. All the paperwork is sorted, but I’ve been waiting 4 months for my solicitor
to sort out his end. Why do things take so long here in the UK? Apparently in the
US, sorting out the paperwork around a mortage is
relatively painless.

Douglas Ghost Walk
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 24th Oct, 2006
I went on a Ghost Walk of Douglas tonight,
organised by Douglas Round Table.
It was great fun, run by Barry Quilliam and Alan Shaw who have been doing this for
some time. Greatly recommended to anyone who wants a night out in the Isle of Man
with a difference! They also organise Ghost Walks in Peel and Castletown.
Malta and Pisa here we come
Posted by: Owen on Friday, 20th Oct, 2006
Well, we’ve pretty much finalised our plans for our upcoming holiday, a quick trip
to Malta followed by a few
days in Pisa. Should be a nice holiday.
One thing we’ve really been wanting to do for some time now is go for a cruise together.
Camille’s been on a cruise, but I haven’t really and Arthur definitely hasn’t! [...]
Happy Birthday to Me
Posted by: Owen on Sunday, 15th Oct, 2006
It only comes once a year, and today is the day! Had some friends over last night
for drinks and nibbles, breakfast in bed this morning and a great day with the family.
What more could one ask for? And to top it off, Camille is buying me a
keyboard for my birthday. Can’t wait for it to [...]
Yikes .. there’s no gin !
Posted by: Owen on Friday, 13th Oct, 2006
I’m throwing a birthday party tomorrow to celebrate my 34th.
Any excuse to party huh? Anyway, I was sorting out what food and booze we have for
tomorrow and just realised there no gin in the house!! Now, throwing a party in the
UK with no gin is like sitting down
for a meal in France with no wine. [...]
Battlestar Galactica 3
Posted by: Owen on Monday, 9th Oct, 2006
Great
news for all the sci-fi fans out there. The 3rd series of Battlestar
Galactica has just started in the US. It will be a few weeks before it starts
getting shown here in the UK, but I’m sure it will be just as eagerly anticipated.
In the last episode of Battlestar Galactica Season 2, we see the [...]
Baby and Child Fair
Posted by: Owen on Sunday, 8th Oct, 2006
Just popped down to the NEC in Birmingham
to attend the Baby and Child
fair. It’s great to see new ideas and meet exhibitors especially the smaller ones,
who are more passionate about what they are doing and eager to share their perceptions
of the future with you. This exhibition wasn’t really my scene, but business ideas
translate to all [...]
Knowledge is Power
Posted by: Owen on Thursday, 5th Oct, 2006
Don’t you find it frustrating when the world knows something that you don’t? I’ve
always had a thirst for knowledge and like learning about things just for the sake
of learning. I also like finding shortcuts and useful things that make your life easier
and get a buzz from sharing these with people.
So this morning, I learnt about [...]
Wohooo! .. It’s great to get an A
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 26th Sep, 2006
Just got my Finance result
and it turns out that I got an A! I must say, this one did have me worried as there
were some topics I was struggling with, like Black-Scholes (calculating
present day values of call or put options) and I couldn’t get my head around Binomial
Option Pricing, but the fact that I got [...]
