Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 2nd Feb, 2005
Jonathan, one of my colleagues at work sent out the following links to System Architectural
Guidance provided by Microsoft. There’s an MSDN Architecture Webcast here and
a link to order free Architecture Resources here.
The free stuff includes

and concepts, providing a range of [...]
Gregor Hohpe .. SOA and Drunk Driving ..
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 18th Jan, 2005
Interesting …
Happy New Year everybody! Over the holidays I tried to
sort out some of my thoughts on Web services, SOA, architectural styles, coupling
and all the other good stuff. I started to think about service-oriented architectures
as an architectural style and how it compares to prior styles, such as distributed
component architectures. Maybe it was the New [...]
The principles of SOA
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 4th Jan, 2005
I came across an interesting article today, that defines what it calls “The principles of SOA” rather elegantly:
The business drives the services, and the services drive the technology.
Business agility is a fundamental business requirement.
A successful SOA is always in flux.
Read more about it here
I love the first one. I think I might [...]

Posted by: Owen on Monday, 26th Apr, 2004
Came across a great article today by Charles
Young, whose blog I’ve definitely got to keep an eye on due to the interesting
material there. This article talks about Transactions in BizTalk
Server 2004 Orchestrations and it’s one of the best discussions I’ve seen so far.
Recommended.

Biztalk and Indigo
Posted by: Owen on Wednesday, 5th Nov, 2003
Siatro just sent me a link to an entry on Scott Woodgate’s blog regarding Biztalk, Indigo and Yukon.
Bear in mind this is future stuff because “Indigo” is part of “Longhorn” and the “Indigo” adapter I demoed is a prototype. I also showed “Yukon” DTS nicely integrated with BizTalk Server through an adapter wizard. Check out [...]

70-300 was a doddle
Posted by: Owen on Sunday, 28th Sep, 2003
So yesterday, I went for another Microsoft Certification: Analyzing Requirements and Defining Microsoft .Net Solution Architectures. Basically I got sent a voucher to do it free which expired at the end of September. Not that I really need it as my MCSD is still valid, but hey, why not. Turned out that after reading a [...]
So .. what is a service?
Posted by: Owen on Thursday, 25th Sep, 2003
Clemens has some excellent
thoughts on what Services mean in a Service Oriented World …
If you
are a developer and don’t live in the Netherlands (where SOA stands, well known, for
“Sexueel Overdraagbare Aandoeningen” = “Sexually transmitted diseases”), you may have
heard by now that SOA stands for “service oriented architectures”. In this article
I am thinking aloud about what [...]

Found this on Peter Provost’s Blog.
I received my TechEd DVD a couple of weeks ago and have enjoyed listening to some
othe presentations I missed. This source seems to have all the presentations. Great
stuff!
In case you didn’t get a chance to go to TechEd this year, I just found that most
(all?) of the presentations are available [...]
XML-Driven Form Building
Posted by: Owen on Tuesday, 2nd Sep, 2003
Came across an interesting collection of data about XML Markup Languages for User Interface Definition while surfing around.
