Interesting piece of news (especially for people working in the enterprise space) today. Microsoft has decided to drop it’s per-processor licensing strategy for a number of high-end products (like BizTalk Server, Sql Server, ISA Server etc), in favour of a per-active-instance licensing model. This means that clients can deploy software on high-end kit more easily and make increased use of virtualisation, clusters and DR instances of their software. Welcome news indeed, so follow this space.
