I was asked by my friends down at Fuel My Blog to review a site where you can create and sell your own clothing. The site is called Printed Wardrobe and to tell you the truth I’ve just spent the last couple of hours playing with their site!

Printed Wardrobe is a website that lets you create your own clothing. Once you have created your design, you can also allow their site to sell them online and earn 10% on every item sold. You can even turn their site into an online store for your design. They do all the hard work, printing the items and shipping them out and you just earn something for every item they sell. They have several items of clothing, but also supply a range of accessories, including iPad covers, phone covers, cushions and bags.

The user interface to create your own items is pretty good. You get upload your own photos or use a selection of clipart they have available. You can also add any text you like in any way you can possibly imagine. I spent quite some time putting together a hoodie I could have got for my wife (shown alongside), but didn’t actually buy it as I’m not sure she would like it. Coming to think of it, I don’t think I’d be up for walking around with photos of my family plastered all over my body, but hey, it was a great subject to see how their website works.

Besides making your own designs, you can also choose from designs that other people have created. I ended up buying this T-Shirt which I think would go down a treat for anyone with access to Facebook at work Purchasing a garment is also good fun. They have a selection of different clothing styles and you get to choose colours and sizes. With every choice, a preview of your item is generated so you can see exactly what you’re getting.

If you decide to go ahead and buy something, I even have a treat for you. If you use the following code: DESIGN20, you get a 20% discount on your purchase. The coupon is valid till the end of September 2011.

Right, I think I’m going back to playing with the site now. Thinking of making a T-shirt for our Social Media Club …

UPDATE: You can get your Social Media Club T-shirt here

It’s great to see how technology has improved the way businesses operate today. I think one of the best examples of this is how some of the big retailers here in the Isle of Man replenish their stock overnight. It’s all down to stock control software that keep track of whatever is sold in store, helps shop planners to decide what new items they want to stock the store with, and then work out what needs to be shipped to the store. The items arrive on the next delivery and voila, the shop is filled again.

It it weren’t for stock control systems, then replenishing a store would be much harder. Not only that, but there would be lots of wastage, especially food which could have spoiled if it wasn’t sold in time.

Looking for comments from people out there. If you have a retail business, could you operate without a stock control?

Anyone who has a printer probably know the answer to that. And it seems that the cheaper the printer is, the more expensive the ink for it is. If you’re buying a printer for yourself, or even for your business, you need to keep mind the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of the printer, not just the initial acquisition cost. Try and figure out how often you’re going to use the printer; and also whether you’ll be creating mostly black or colour prints. You can use this print estimate to figure out the printer ink cost and what the running costs of your printer would be.

But what can you do if you already have a printer and are finding the cost of running it exorbitant? Well, there are a few options around from where you can get your consumables. There are a number of kits on the market that can help you refill cartridges, but anyone who has played with one of these will attest to how messy they are. So, how would you go around getting cheap printer ink for your printer? Well, there are a number of companies out there that specialise in selling refilled cartridges. They are a great way to get your hands on cheap ink cartridges which can really bring down the running cost of your printer.

Refilled ink cartridges usually just consist of the exact same cartridges that your printer uses. They collect used cartridges, recondition them and fill them up with fresh ink. Then they sell them for a fraction of the price of an original cartridge. So, you’re really getting exactly the same product, except that that someone has used it before. In a way, you’re recycling cartridges and that’s a good thing. We all know that the less resources we use, the better for the environment it all is.

If you tag your camera, your laptop, your phone and anything else you can lose with TagBak, you can make sure that if you ever lose them, they can find their way back to you. TagBak works by giving you a set of tags which are uniquely numbered. Anyone who finds one of your items gets a reward, and TagBak then make sure they deliver it to you using next-day delivery.

Here’s what they look like:

It’s a cool idea, and if you keep leaving things behind and losing them, then it’s something you should look into. It costs around a fiver for a single item, or £12 for 3 items. They also have a “comprehensive” service that even pays to ship the items back to you, no matter where in the world you lose them. Your details are kept confidential, with the finder reporting directly to TagBak, so your privacy is assured.

It’s funny how sometimes something sticks in your head as an action or placeholder for something you want to do. Well, a few months ago I had heard my friend Sherrilynne talk about a set of stages that organisations go through in their jounrey to adopting Social Media. I ended up digging around and found her source, a most excellent post by Brian Solis called The 10 Stages of Social Media Integration in Business.

In a nutshell, the 10 stages are:

Stage 1: Observe and Report

Stage 2: Setting the Stage

Stage 3: Socialising Media

Stage 4: Finding a Voice and a Sense of Purpose

Stage 5: Putting Words into Action

Stage 6: Humanizing the Brand and Defining the Experience

Stage 7: Community

Stage 8: Social Darwinism

Stage 9: The Socialization of Business Process

Stage 10: Business Performance Metrics

It’s a thought provoking piece, and if you read nothing else today, read THIS. And I mean really read it; don’t skim through it, savour every word and ponder on its significance. It will give you a deeper understanding of the journey we’re all heading through.

The great thing about VOIP is that it allows individuals and businesses to substantially lower their communication costs by using the Internet to use their conversations.

It’s quite interesting to see a packaged service like this. Small businesses usually have trouble recruiting and retaining technical staff, so an off-the-shelf package like this can offer them the advantage of technology without having to retain the staff. They have an interesting package for example, for $39.99 a month they will take care of all your communication needs with unlimited inbound and outbound calls

If you’re looking for best voip small business can find, check out their feature list.

Had an interesting debate over lunch yesterday while in a Twestival planning session, about the different between shopping online, or buying things over the web. You see, you can always find a good deal online, but if you’re really after service, nothing really beats walking into a shop and getting an expert opinion. The key thing, of course, is that the shop needs be staffed by an expert, someone who really knows what they’re doing and knows their way around the products they are selling.

Shopping online always has the advantage of price. The costs of running an online operation will always be lower than running a bricks and mortar operation. And you can knock q few quid off the price of your purchase using a service like PromotionalCodes.co.uk, a website that gives you discount codes to a number of popular websites. You can easily knock 10% to 20% off the online price of an item in this way. And when you consider online prices can be 20% cheaper than going to a store, you can see the attraction.

The knock on effect is that retailers need to start factoring this in, stop trying to compete on price alone and up the ante; providing critical services that cannot be replicated online. The question is, how many retailers really get it?

This is a sponsored guest post written by kuaga on behalf of goviral network. Post powered by Sponzai.

Are you paid to post videos on your blog? If not, this post is for you.

While many bloggers discover, watch and post branded videos on a daily basis, relatively few know how to earn on it. This post will shed light on how and what you can earn by posting branded videos.

What you need to know.

There are companies who will pay you to embed video ads on your site. Video revenue is considerably higher than Google AdSense. You will earn above $1 CPM and if you are smart about your placement you get up to $9 CPM. If you like, read more about it here. View your potential CPM earnings here.

Where to start.

One of the most notable platforms paying bloggers to post branded videos is goviral network. It’s free and easy to use – 1) register; 2) pick and post videos you like; 3) get paid monthly via Paypal or bank wire. Your revenue report is updated hourly and you get new campaigns alerts by email.

Sounds easy? Here is the link to sign up.

Don’t have a blog?

No worries. You don’t need any technical skills to create one. As long as you can click on your mouse buttons, you’ll pull it off. Try blogger. It’s fast and free.

Can’t be simpler, can it? Happy posting.

Just received an interesting email from Izea about Oppapalooza:

As you know we recently made some changes to the PayPerPost platform. While the feedback regarding our interface refinement has been great, we have also received some concerns relating to our pricing adjustments. I am sensitive to your pricing feedback and would like to try a new model for a limited time. My hope is that we will find a balance that works financially for advertisers, bloggers and IZEA. With that in mind, we have made the following changes:

- Minimum total cost per post reduced to $1.00
- Minimum word count reduced to 25 words with a link only option

That’s a pretty interesting development which is being pushed out till the end of the month allowing Izea to test the water with this “micro-payperpost” idea. My biggest concern is that this will affect the quality of the blogging network as it minimises the amount of effort people put into posting. On a positive note, it might also encourage new advertisers to try the medium out.

So, if you want to earn $1 for writing a sponsored post, click on the image above (disclosure: that’s my referral link) and sign up (referrals are still $15 each as far as I’m aware. If, on the other hand you want to try to buy some sponsored posts to see if it helps your online presence, here’s a signup sheet:

Your Browser does not support IFrames: This form can not be rendered. Please visit <a href=”http://payperpost.com/signup” target=”_parent”>PayPerPost</a> to sign up.

I’ll be interested to see the results of this experiment.
