Back from Third (Fourth) Thursday – IOM Social Media Club
I’ve just come back from dinner with the IOM Social Media Club. We normally meet up on the Third Thursday of the month, but this time was special as it was on the Fourth Thursday; lucky for me otherwise I wouldn’t have managed to make it. Here are some photos from the evening:
It was a great evening, even though we did end up talking about diets and treadmills at a point. Here are some of the things we talked about:
- ManxWiki: A brand spanking new Manx social initiative to get as much information about the Isle of Man, its culture and its people on one website. Anyone can edit the pages, so if you spot anything missing, just go ahead and add it.
- Is blogging dead? Excellent post by Nathan about Wired’s article about the demise of blogging and rise of Tweeting.
- Switched On Podcast: Derek podcast show in South Africa. I still have to catch him doing his IOM show with Three FM, but radio isn’t quite the medium for me
There was lots more we talked about but you’ll have to come and visit us next time on Thursday 20th. Unfortunately I won’t be making this one, as I’ll be graduating in Edinburgh on that day!

With all the plugins available for WP (including Tweet My Blog) I can see how Tweeting can be seen as overtaking blogging, but I will remain an avid blogger for a while (Make too much $$$ doing it to stop)
Glad you enjoyed your social gathering and that Manx Wiki is really useful for finding out more about your Island.
I often wondered about blogging versus tweeting. I do both. I like both. I don’t think blogging will ever die completely though.
