These look like a nice set of headphones, but I prefer sound <strong>isolating</strong> earbuds. It's kind-of like wearing earplugs when speakers built into them. I've had the Shure E2c model for several years now. I've used them during my law school exams, on commuter trains, planes, etc. Even with no music playing in the earbuds, you can't hear much ambient noise. Turn your music on just a smidge, and you can't hear anything! Also, Shure has an incredible return policy. If their products break within 2 years of purchase, just send them back for a repair or replacement. My first E2c developed a short in the wiring; got a replacement pair. That pair had cracking of the wire casing; got another replacement pair. Yeah, it's odd that I went through 2 pairs in under 2 years, but awesome that Shure replaced them both!
