Have you ever tried being part of a web conference? It’s actually quite impressive and once you get the hang of it it’s almost as if you’re in the same room as the other party. One of those technologies that is still seeing improvements every year, web conferencing gets easier and easier to use and more and more effective.
It used to be that the only way to have a meeting with someone else on the other side of the country was to jump on a plane, fly for miles and miles and miles, have an hour-long meeting and fly all the way back. That’s not an effective use of your time whatever way you put it. However, compare this to what you can do today with web conferencing. All it takes is a webcam on your computer, some software and and Internet connection. And the great thing is that you can be anywhere in the world, you could be on a yacht, you could be on the beach .. or you could simply be in your office.
The first time I took part in a video conference, I remember that we needed special equipment and a dedicated internet connection. The last web conference was started by clicking on a link in an email. My, how things have changed.
