Listening to podcasts

I started listening to podcasts when I picked up my iRiver many, many moons ago. It works OK, but I hate the fact that I have to charge it up, plug it into my PC and go through hoops to get the podcasts on my player. It’s been worse with Vista as some packages worked and some didn’t. However things have changed since I got my new mobile phone. I think it’s all sorted out now.

So, how does my set up work. Well, my phone has WiFi built into it, so it’s perfectly happy to download podcasts on it’s own. I’m using a package called HubDog which is an RSS/podcast/vidcast aggregator for Windows Mobile. All I have to do is charge my phone and it’s perfectly happy to downloading podcasts on it’s own ready for me to listen to. Cool, huh?

So what am I listening to at the moment?

  • Slashdot Review – A 10-Minute Review of recent highlights from Slashdot, Digg and Reddit (just the length of time it takes me to walk to work)
  • Hanselminutes – A weekly audio talk show with noted web developer and technologist Scott Hanselman and hosted by Carl Franklin.
  • Daily Source Code – Adam Curry’s seminal podshow.

I also used to listen to Marketing Pilgrim but Andy now does a live show, so I catch him online when I can.
