WordPress Editor (TinyMCE) Tip

If you’re a WordPress user and make regularly use their Rich Text Editor (you know the WYSIWYG one), you’ll be delighted to know that you can access additional functionaliy by pressing ALT-V (try ALT-SHIFT-V) if that doesn’t work. I suspect this works on all TinyMCE installations, but I’ve only experienced it on WordPress.

What does the extra toolbar give you. Here are what the buttons offer:

  • Adding heading and other HTML tags
  • Underline
  • Full Align
  • Select Text Colour
  • Paste as Plain Text
  • Paste from Word (cleans up all the junk yet retains formatting - Woohoo!!)
  • Remove Formatting
  • Cleanup messy code (Wow!)
  • Insert custom character
  • Undo and Redo

Don’t know how I lived without this! Kudos to Everybody Goto for the great tip

  1. Hey cool I didn’t know that *runs off to try*

  2. Hmm…that’s interesting, I will have to check that out. Normally though I don’t use the WYSIWYG, I’m an old school ‘type that code out’ kind of gal.
