In today’s marketplace, it’s quite hard to stand out from the competition. Take Mint, the UK credit card. Do you know how they stand out from the competition? Well, their initial move was to come up with a new concept in card design. The mint credit card is a different shape, with the bottom right-hand corner removed. This surely makes an impact and makes them stand out from everyone else. They have a 0% introductory rate, but there’s quite a few credit card companies that do that also.
Now they are trying to differenciate themselves once again, not on the physical aspect of their cards, but on their product offering. They now have a Mint Gift Card which are basically prepaid credit cards that can be given as gifts or rewards to people. I don’t know of any other credit card companies in the UK who do this. Will be interesting to watch how it takes on and whether other card companies will follow suit.
Fading into the background can be deadly to your company, so try to stand out; no matter what.
