WordPress 2.1 breaks Link Library

Installing WordPress 2.1 worked fine in most cases, however it has broken one of the plugins I use on the site. The plugin is called Link Library and makes use of a depracated function called $wpdb->linkcategories. Actually it’s a depractated table in the database. WordPress 2.1 uses the same category table for links and posts. This has the advantage of making everything cleaner and reusing the parent-child functionality available to post categories, however breaks any plugins that used the old tables and loses any configuration options around links categories (link category images, sort orders etc). I’m not 100% convinced this is a step in the right direction, but as I’m not involved in WordPress development, I don’t support I have the right to winge.

I’ve managed to repair the blog by changing the SQL in Link Library, however it probably needs a bit more First Aid. I’ll update the plugin with some new stuff and might actually publish it as a brand new plugin (if I have the time it is). I’m starting to enjoy MySQL and PHP which probably means I’m working my way up the learning curve.

Anyway, the Blogroll page seems to be working again. Let me know if you have any issues with it
