Unfortunately Arthur has come down with croup which is a sickness where the larynx and trachea swell up and narrow causing breathing difficulties. Apparently it’s a pretty common childhood disease hitting kids between 6 months and 5 years of age mostly.
Unfortunately there’s not much a parent can do except humidify the room as much as possible and try and get some steam in (easier said than done on a frightened 10 month old. But we did manage to get some relief today in the following way. Basically run a hot bath (not too hot mind), put child in bath with some eucalyptus drops and turn on the jacuzzi. The room will steam up really quickly and voila, major relief. Problem is that you can’t stay in the bath forever, and well, nights are the worst … fingers crossed for tonight …
