Virtualisation

There’s an interesting
article on the BCS website that talks about Virtualisation and it’s impact on
the IT landscape. It offers a good perspective on what virtualisation is all about,
what the perceived benefits are and why companies like VMWare and Microsoft are
giving away their virtualisation products for free. There’s also a section that talks
about Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDI) and why these are so attractive to businesses
deploying this technology. A worthwhile read.

On an aside, the IOM Section of the BCS will be
holding a talk on virtualisation later on this year. More about that later.
