I’ve never needed to use an Asset Management Package, but Visual
Asset Management by NetSimplicity. It will automatically discover and audit Windows
boxes on the network, help you manage your inventory and even visually map your machines.
I’m
pretty impressed with the visual capabilities. The package shows you a floor plan
with assets and users and you can even map a user moving from one location to another.
They say a picture says a thousand words and this software certainly proves it. I’ve
seen people try to manage their assets using spreadsheets and the pain they go through
is pretty grim. This package seems a joy to use.
